Family Ownership

Welch Senior Living Principals

The principals of Welch Senior Living – Paul T. Casale, Richard Welch and Michael Welch – share in the oversight of the business, with Mr. Casale, president, responsible for the day-to-day operations. They have worked together for 50 years, and as partners for the last 35 years, developing and managing skilled rehabilitation and nursing centers, assisted living communities, retirement communities, assisted living memory care residences, and related services, including adult day health centers and home care services.

Welch Senior Living grew to a company that managed or owned 19 senior living residences and skilled rehabilitation and nursing centers with more than 2,000 staff members. Along the way, the family organization became leaders in the field, developing some of the finest and most innovative senior care properties on the South Shore of Massachusetts for the benefit of local seniors, whose healthcare and comfort were the company’s top priority. In 2016, the principals decided to focus solely on their assisted living, independent living, and assisted living memory care communities.

In 1949 the Welch family opened and shared their home with elders needing around-the-clock supervised care. This event marked the founding of the John Scott House by Mrs. Welch and her late husband Frank.

Mrs. Welch served in leadership positions on boards of national and state organizations. She was a founding member and former president of both the Massachusetts chapter of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators and the Massachusetts Senior Care Association and served as secretary of the American Health Care Association.
